Hi Anya,
Here are some of the past speeches for your reference. The speech should be good for 3 minutes. Include some quotations or sayings that we have used in class; cite examples of memorable activities and lessons learned, special friendships and well wishes for everyone, be positive, look towards the future, thank everyone, etc. Don't worry, I'll be helping you polish the speech. You can do this! - Ms. Chen COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES - Class of 2014:2014 Graduation Speech by Jasmine Huang To our beloved principal, supportive directors, amazing teachers, loving parents and my fellow students, a very pleasant good morning. Today is our graduation day. We dreaded the arrival of this day, an important milestone that celebrates the culmination of all our efforts in elementary. We are anxious and sad, yet excited and glad at the same time. How can one have such mixed emotions about graduation? We all know why – because today, we are saying good-bye to each other. We are leaving this beautiful school, Yu-Tsai, which has been our second home in the last six years. I remember walking into the yard of the school six years ago – faced with an unfamiliar place, not knowing what to do - I was like a frightened little kitten. But everything changed when I heard the kind voice and saw the warm smile on my first grade teacher’s face. I had a succession of wonderful and dedicated teachers after that. I’ll never forget what Mrs. Chen always told us - “expect more from yourself.” These words encouraged me to be better and to face challenges with more confidence. Our class activities were fascinating. They helped us better understand our lessons and extend our learning beyond the textbooks. Because of our teachers, we were able to have such a great time in elementary. An equally important part of our lives at Yu Tsai were the friendships that we’ve developed over the years. The shared experiences such as the many exciting contests and activities, the fun we had and the support we gave to each other in times of difficulties, are memories that we will cherish forever. The event that stood out for me was the singing contest, which we choreographed ourselves. Oh, how true it is when they say that “winning is not everything.” We did not win, but the experience and the things we learned from the activity were priceless! Part of all these memories was our classmate and best friend who should be here with us today but has gone ahead to a better place. To this classmate - we miss you and we’re thinking of you today. This day will not be possible without our loving parents who have stood by our sides and would continue with us on to our next journey. To our parents and loved ones, we love you and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Yes, the dreaded day has finally arrived, and that day is today. The day we will be leaving everything familiar and comfortable. But move on we must; we shall do so with confidence and optimism because Yu Tsai has prepared us well. That frightened little kitten was long gone. In its place is a roaring cat, a tiger, waiting to be unleashed and make its mark on the world. In behalf of all 6th graders, I thank you, Yu Tsai, for turning many little kittens like me into tigers. And to the graduating class of 2014, congratulations, and I wish everyone a beautiful and successful future. CLASS OF 2012 Good afternoon, Principal Tang, teachers, parents, distinguished guests, and fellow students. I’m Linda Lin, delivering the farewell speech on behalf of the graduating class of 2012. Today is a day unlike any other.Today we set foot in our beloved school, Yu Tsai, as its students for the last time. For years, we have dreamt and waited for this day. Now that it’s finally here, I can’t help feeling sad and excited at the same time.In a moment of weakness, I asked myself, how could we leave the comforting presence of teachers who’ve nurtured us these past years, or the familiar schoolyard that witnessed our stumbles and successes? Why do we have to part ways with classmates and friends who have played, learned and grown with us like brothers and sisters?Questions like these tore at my heart. Yu Tsai is like a mother’s womb. We are leaving its safe and secure environment to an extremely different one in junior high. It’s a step that is painful beyond words, but one that must be taken. However sad we may be, today is an important milestone. We will leave bringing with us happy and precious memories of our elementary years in this school. I, for one, will never forget how we sang and danced in the singing contests, memorized our speeches for the language competitions and many other activities. By the same token, we are excited about the future, for we know that Yu Tsai has prepared us well. Our teachers made sure that we are armed with more than enough skills, knowledge, confidence and a strong belief in ourselves, ready to face tougher challenges ahead. We are leaving you all with heavy hearts but with chins held high as we proudly think of things wehave learned and our many accomplishments. . To the 5th graders, we entrust the student leadership of our beloved school. Carry on as we have done this year or do even better – be good role models to our younger brothers and sisters at Yu Tsai.I’m sure that you will all continue to make our school proud. In behalf of the class of 2012, I would like to express our gratitude to our chairman, the principal, all our teachers for their inspiration and support. Most of all, we thank our parents for their patience, love and guidance. To my fellow graduating students, CONGRATULATIONS – we made it and good luck!
